This is the news that we’ve all been fearing. FIFA have handed Chelsea a two-window transfer ban for breaching the rules on signing underage players.
Deep down we knew that this was likely. With the current state that the club is in at the current time, we just needed that one final nail to come in and really f*** things up. Here it is, ladies and gents, we can’t sign players until the summer of 2020.
As Sky Sports report, the ban has been handed out as a result of our dealings with minors, with one of those who is thought to be involved being Bertrand Traore. FIFA have come to this decision after a three-year investigation into our football club.
Chelsea are thought to be likely to appeal, but if there is evidence of wrongdoing, we have little chance of being successful. The club “categorically refute the findings of the FIFA Disciplinary Committee”, so maybe there is confidence of turning this around.
