INJURY NEWS: Two problems ahead of today, one could return, another a ‘major doubt’

Chelsea have two injury problems ahead of their clash with Sheffield Wednesday today, and unfortunately, they’re both with players who we’d all like to see start!

You have to fancy Chelsea’s chances of reaching the fifth round of the FA Cup regardless of the team that Maurizio Sarri decides to field today. No disrespect to the Championship side, but a tie like this in front of the Stamford Bridge faithful should only be ending one way.

However, even though we’ll likely win whoever the personnel, there are certain players who could use this game as an opportunity to get some much-craved game-time. Two of those players are academy products Andreas Christensen and Ruben Loftus-Cheek.

Unfortunately, Chelsea fans, it’s unclear at this point whether either will start the game. As Physio Room report, they are suffering with respective hamstring and back problems. Christensen is listed as a ‘major doubt’, while Ruben faces a late fitness test.

At this point, Loftus-Cheek looks the most likely to be involved. He has been training with the squad ahead of time and has a fighting chance to be involved. As for Christensen, he may be forced to watch another cup game, which he would’ve started, from the sidelines.
