Former Chelsea captain, leader and legend John Terry’s career in the dugout beside Dean Smith as an assistant manager at Aston Villa has been a decent one so far. Although he’s managing proceedings in West Midlands, the ex-Blue still keeps close tabs on his former club.
As the Blues dispatched Sheffield United 2-1, John Terry was highly impressed with the performance of Chelsea midfielder Mason Mount. Mount has been a revelation and took his tally to three goals this Premier League season with a sweet left-footed finish in the 18-yard-box to open Chelsea’s account for the day.
Terry took to Instagram, exclaiming –
“@Mason Mount, what a player. How have the commentators not even mentioned this.”

The youngster put in a good performance, but this is not the first time he’s drawn the ex-Chelsea captain’s attention. Mount appeared with the captain armband for the first time earlier this season and became Chelsea’s youngest ever captain, overcoming Terry’s record. (football.london)
“Captaining the club I’ve been at since the age of 6, no words can describe the emotion and immense pride!”
He wrote on Instagram after his captaincy debut in the 3-1 win over Luton Town in the FA Cup.
Terry responded, saying:
“Buzzing for you mate.”
After his goal against Sheffield United, he became the second-youngest player to score ten Premier League goals for Chelsea, next to Dutch legend Arjen Robben. Mason Mount has evolved into one of Chelsea’s best players this season and at only 22 , he has ample space for development.
His Dad lamps must be so proud !
