Chelsea midfielder Jorginho broke a Premier League record with his performance against West Ham United on Sunday afternoon.
The Italy international dropped his first points as a Chelsea player at the London Stadium, with the Hammers proving to be a nut too tough to crack, but it was a great day for him on a personal level.
As Squawka reported on Twitter, Jorginho set a new high for the number of passes attempted in a single Premier League game – 180!
Jorginho’s 180 passes against West Ham is the most attempted in a single Premier League game since such data was collected in 2003/04.

The Daily Mail revealed back in March that Manchester City’s Ilkay Gundogan had broken the record after attempting 167 passes against Chelsea. Jorginho has now bettered the German’s tally.
The fact that Jorginho has done this so soon into his Premier League career is even more impressive. He has had very little time to adapt, yet has been one of the players of the season so far – and has now broken a Premier League record!
We wouldn’t bet against him bettering this figure at some point during the season…
