Chelsea fans on Twitter are not best pleased with the starting eleven that Maurizio Sarri has named for today’s Carabao Cup final. Are they ever?
Sarri’s job as Chelsea boss may well be on the line today. He needs to (somehow) defeat a team and a manager who massively outplayed his underperforming Blues just a few weeks ago. He has made several changes to the lineup he fielded at the Etihad as a result.
Perhaps most surprisingly, Sarri has dropped January signing Gonzalo Higuain in favour of fielding Eden Hazard through the middle. It’s a creative idea, and one that worked for us against City at the Bridge, but Pedro and Willian over Callum Hudson-Odoi? REALLY?
Emerson Palmieri replaces Marcos Alonso at left-back, which is one positive, with Kepa Arrizabalaga also overcoming injury to be involved in today’s game. However, that is not enough for many fans to cushion the blow of having CHO among the substitutes.
We sent out a tweet following the announcement of the starting eleven, asking fans for their thoughts on the team that Sarri has named. It’s safe to say that the majority of our followers are experiencing similar emotions – they’re not happy at all. Have a look at this.
Slightly scared while typing this, but…
