Antonio Conte tells Everton hitman he would play significant role at Chelsea

It looks as though Romelu Lukaku will have a major role to play in Antonio Conte’s side if he makes the switch from Everton to Chelsea in the summer transfer window.

Italian journalist Emanuele Giulianelli has revealed that Conte has informed Lukaku that he would be his number one striker if he moves to Stamford Bridge this summer.

That would surely raise serious doubts over the future of Diego Costa, though there hasn’t been a time since his arrival in West London that there hasn’t been any.

If Chelsea do, as Giulianelli believes we might, sign Lukaku this summer, we may well be getting an upgrade on Costa. Lukaku has found the back of the net 85 times in the Premier League, despite being just 24-years-old. That includes 25 top-flight goals last season, only Harry Kane scored more.
