‘Loan with option to buy’ – Fabrizio Romano gives update on Fikayo Tomori’s potential move

The reliable Fabrizio Romano has once again given us an update on the future of Fikayo Tomori, who has recently been linked with a move to Italian giants AC Milan.

Thursday night he tweeted that talks between Chelsea and AC Milan are progressing. Further mentioning that he has now become a serious target for AC Milan after negotiations for Strasbourg FC’s, Mohamed Simakan, seem to have broken down.

However, Mr.Romano’s tweet also mentioned that Chelsea has asked for a buy option of around €30m to be included in any deal. This may come as a surprise to many Chelsea supporters, especially after Lampard mentioned in his press conference Thursday afternoon that Tomori has a long-term future at the Blues.

There is no arguing that a loan for Tomori would be the best option for both himself and Chelsea. Not to mention, AC Milan is a club doing very well in Serie A and he would gain valuable experience playing in a league that prides itself on defensive stability.

The buy option that Chelsea is looking to instill in his contract, however, is an unpleasant surprise. Lampard seems to value the 23-year-old defender, but the club appears to have other ideas.
