Sarri calls on Chelsea players to use Man City win as catalyst for greatness

Maurizio Sarri has called on his Chelsea side to build on yesterday’s win over Manchester City, noting that the win will be useless if they fall back into old habits.

After our losses to Tottenham and Wolves, it was hard to imagine that Chelsea could pull a performance out the bag like they did against City.

It wasn’t pretty at times, but Sarri’s men limited City’s opportunities and penetrated their usually sturdy back line on two occasions in order to secure all three points and end their unbeaten start to the season.

Sarri is delighted with the result, but he believes beating City will have been pointless if we are unable to kick on from the victory.

He’s quoted by the Independent saying:

“I am really very happy. Now we need to find this kind of motivations, and we need to play with this level of determination, the right aggression, also in our other matches. Otherwise it is useless to win a match like this.”

Can Chelsea still compete for the title? We’re only 7 points behind City. As shown with yesterday’s game, this football club is often at their most dangerous when written off. Let us know your thoughts on Twitter @TalkChelsea.
