‘Maybe we could have kept him’ – Chelsea legend says club should have kept Blues loanee

Chelsea great Frank Lampard believes that the club should have kept Tammy Abraham who is currently out on loan at Swansea City, as our all-time top scorer spoke with BT Sport.

Abraham has had a solid start to the season in South Wales, scoring four goals in all competitions. Two of which came last Saturday against Huddersfield Town.

The promising 20-year-old striker reached a new level last season when on loan at Bristol City, scoring 26 goals in all competitions for the Championship side. Lampard believes that Abraham could have been useful for the Blues this season when speaking to BT Sport.

Lampard is quoted by BT Sport saying:

“When Morata was injured it seems a mistake now because now he’s playing regular first team football.”

From an individual perspective it was a great move for Abraham but for the club it could have been wise to keep him. Especially as manager Antonio Conte doesn’t look fully convinced with Michy Batshuayi.

Even though, it seems likely Chelsea will bring in another striker in the January transfer window, the chances of Abraham being recalled on loan shouldn’t be ignored.
