Antonio Conte makes decision on midfield pairing for FA Cup final

We appear to have some early team news ahead of Saturday’s FA Cup final.

According to the Daily Mail, Nemanja Matic is set to start at the heart of the midfield alongside N’Golo Kante, leaving Cesc Fabregas to watch from the sidelines against former side Arsenal at Wembley.

As the Daily Mail note, Fabregas has started three of Chelsea’s last four games, with Matic not featuring since the game at the Hawthorns that sealed the Premier League title. However, the Daily Mail believe that the Serbian is set to start from the beginning on Saturday evening, with Fabregas to miss out.

Conte has often opted to use Matic in tough away games, with Fabregas being preferred in games during which we are likely to dominate possession.

According to Squawka, Arsenal averaged 55% possession during their Premier League campaign, so perhaps starting Matic ahead of Fabregas will prove to be a shrewd move from Conte.
