Lots of Chelsea fans were hoping to see Mateo Kovacic in the starting lineup against Arsenal, and while they were disappointed that the Croat was on the bench, they did get a superb glimpse of their new man in the second half.
The midfielder completed 100% of his passes after coming on against the Gunners, showing all the technical skill that we’re looking for in Maurizio Sarri’s players.
He didn’t just show off his skills moving the ball around either, his overall game was excellent. His strong runs forward disrupted Arsenal’s formation and he also made some really impressive tackles when tracking back.
He still has a while to go to build up his fitness and adjust to his new team, but this was a very promising start for the new signing and a very positive sign for the squad and the manager as a whole that they may have found the perfect man to complete this team.
