Roberto Di Matteo warns Chelsea they may never replace John Terry

Chelsea legend Roberto Di Matteo has warned his former employers that they may never be able to replace John Terry, report the Mirror.

If there is any man on this planet who has earned the right to give his opinion on Chelsea affairs, it’s Di Matteo.

Not only did the former Italy international win six pieces of silverware during his time at Stamford Bridge as a player, but, as you well know, Di Matteo steered us to a historic FA Cup and Champions League double in 2012.

Terry, until his dismissal at the Nou Camp, played a starring role in that triumph. Di Matteo, who knows the former Chelsea captain better than most, has been singing his praises.

The Mirror quote Di Matteo, who believes that Terry’s Chelsea DNA set an example for his teammates:

“He was a leader in the dressing room, he was the reference point for many players, especially many new players. He represented the true feelings of Chelsea.”

Di Matteo goes on to share his fears that Chelsea will struggle to replace Terry, if they are ever able to do so, as the Mirror report:

“It’s going to take a bit of time for somebody to step in and take that kind of role. I’m not sure if ever somebody will be able to do so, but certainly taking on the captaincy role and being that important for the team.”

Who could argue with Robbie? Terry is not a once in a generation player, there will never be another like him.
