After tearing Premier League defences to shreds all season, it appears as though Everton striker Romelu Lukaku is now taking on the British media.
The Sun reported on Sunday evening that Lukaku could reject a move to league leaders and former employers Chelsea due to concerns over our style of play.
According to The Sun, Chelsea technical director Michael Emenalo is keen to re-sign the Belgian this summer, and is willing to part with as much as £80million to secure his services.
However, the tabloid noted that Lukaku wasn’t so keen on making the move, as Antonio Conte’s demands that his centre-forward defends and presses the defensive line do not necessarily suit the 23-year-old.
At first reading, this appears to be bad news from a Chelsea perspective – but Lukaku swiftly took to Twitter to calm our fears. Shortly after The Sun published the article, Lukaku posted this:
Some media these days are annoying man…. 😓

As long as i didn’t make a public statement about my situation please stay out of my business ok? #☀️…

There is no confirmation that Lukaku was talking about this particular article, but ‘hash-tagging’ the sun emoji is a pretty good indication.
