Chelsea’s hopes to lure a star player from a rival in Tottenham Hotspur’s Toby Alderweireld have been dented.
As per The Mirror, Real Madrid has entered the race to sign the Belgian centre-back along with Manchester United also being in the frame.
Alderweireld is holding out to be Spurs’ highest earner at the club with wage demands of as much as £150,000 per week.
No talks over a new deal have been talked about despite the 28-year-old having the option to extend his current contract at the North London side for a further year, The Mirror reports.

The tabloid also understands that Alderweireld has a £25m release clause that can be activated. This is so long as he seals a move a fortnight before the end of the summer transfer window.
For how out of control the modern transfer market is, this release clause would be a steal and would weaken our rival.
Love to have him here, but can you really believe that Levy will sell to us……I don’t think so.
