Antonio Rudiger is fast approaching legendary status, despite only signing for Chelsea in the summer of 2017.
The German took a while to settle into Antonio Conte’s back-three, but has been a rare success story of the second-half of the season.
Rudiger showcased the progress that he has made this term at Wembley on Saturday afternoon, winning the man of the match award for an imperious display against Manchester United.
The 25-year-old could be forgiven for using this as an opportunity to blow his own trumpet, but he did not appear to have any interest in doing so.
Instead, before being presented with BT Sport’s man of the match award, Rudiger attempted to convince Eden Hazard to stay at the club next season. Have a look at this.
“Eden Hazard please stay!” 🙏
“I need Rudiger to play like this every game, then I’ll stay!”
