If Andy Carroll is to join Chelsea in January it will have to be on a permanent basis and not a loan till the end of the season.
That’s according to The Standard who have given an update on the Blues’s shocking pursuit of the West Ham striker.
As manager Antonio Conte continues to lose more and more faith in Michy Batshuayi, the Italian’s need for a reliable striker has reached breaking point.
The Belgian will only be let out on loan if Chelsea sign a striker in this window. Crystal Palace’s Christian Benteke and Red Star Belgrade’s Richmond Boakye are other targets for the champions, The Standard reports.
Target man fits the profile of striker for Conte
It’s obvious that with the physical attributes Carroll possesses, Conte is looking for someone that offers someone different to Batshuayi and Alvaro Morata.
However, the main question mark is if Carroll has the quality to lead the Chelsea line. The Englishman has struggled with injuries through his career which doesn’t help his case.
Perhaps, a move for either Benteke or Boakye would better suit us.
