An overview of Chelsea’s youngsters at the U17s World Cup Final

The success of England’s U17s team certainly hasn’t gone unnoticed as the Young Lions beat Spain 5-2 in the final of the World Cup in India.

There were five Chelsea youngsters that featured for their national team throughout the tournament. All five featured in the last game of England’s triumph with four of them starting.

The defensive duo of Marc Guehi and Jon Panzo started with the former playing at centre-back and the latter at left-back. George McEachran played in the middle of the park and Callum Hudson-Odoi was on the left-wing. Conor Gallagher was subbed on in the last five minutes of normal time with England 4-2 up.

Despite how well all of our youngsters played in this tournament, Hudson-Odoi was the most influential of the five players. The winger was on hand for many of England’s goals but the crucial assist was Manchester City youngster Phil Foden’s goal that put his team 3-2 up in the final. Hudson-Odoi then put in Foden once more to add gloss to an incredible 5-2 score. Guehi scored England’s fourth goal, but the Chelsea youngster that has taken many by storm is Hudson Odoi.

Many of us will watch in anticipation to see if any of these players can breakthrough and become first team regulars for the Blues in the future. But for now, it’s time to sit back and admire these players in their youth winning trophies.
