Like I’ve always said, I have actually found myself agreeing quite a bit with Jamie Carragher of late, which I hate by the way. But a lot of the stuff he has said for me has unfortunately just been true.
However, Carragher is backing PSG to knock Chelsea out of the Champions League. And I think this should be our added motivation to prove that man wrong!
Get these comments below, blow them up, and put them in our dressing room tonight and then at Stamford Bridge next week. Use his words to will yourselves to the win over two legs.
Carragher, speaking after watching Galatasaray beat Liverpool 1-0 in their first leg last night, said:
“I don’t have any hope for Liverpool going into the next round… if it’s PSG, which I think it might be.”
So, he’s saying that if Liverpool still get through, they wont get any further than the next round, which he believes will be against PSG rather than Chelsea.
Chelsea and our players must use this as fuel now. I mean, the Champions League should be enough motivation for any player anyway, but we can all use some added extra motivation, right?
This game, over two legs, will be a game where every player will need to turn up and be in top form. Every player will need to fight for every loose and second ball, because that for me will be the difference. It will be who works the hardest, who is the most physical, who is the most disciplined, and who turns up on the night. It’s going to take that extra 10% from every player these next two games, with Newcastle United in the middle.
But stick that Carragher quote on the wall just to add more fire to our bellies, please!
