Enzo Maresca choosing to go public with his desire to sign a new centre back could end ugly, we’ve seen this all before.
Maresca and the board allegedly disagreeing about needing a new centre back is far from ideal, especially with it being reported that way. The reality is, the club also know we need a new centre back but cannot sign one because they need to sell a bunch more players to keep in line with FIFA rules and avoid the fine.
But right now, it’s being reported as a disagreement between Maresca and the decision makers, and that’s not good.
I’ll explain why…
Imagine getting into the season and Chelsea are not going through a good spell, conceding some goals, and not performing well. Maresca is going to point to the fact that it’s hard to play how he wants without Levi Colwill, as he has explained. And the Chelsea board have not got him a replacement. It only ends one way.
But I guess unless we smash out some player sales, then there’s really nothing that can be done about it here anyway. Not a great situation.
Never mind centre backs why does he want more wingers? Especially Garnacio who couldn’t get a team that finished 5th from bottom last season. And a goalie? One excellent game in final DOESNT make up for all his mistakes
Good managers complain, great managers look for solutions…if the only solution is getting a new CB that can play the “Levi Colwill” role then EM isn’t a great manager. I remember managers like Mourinho and Ancelotti…never really complained just did their jobs
