Enzo Fernandez signs for Chelsea

Opinion: Enzo makes Chelsea debut on Friday night

Obviously before we get into this one, it will all be dependent if his paperwork is put through in time as to whether Enzo Fernandez makes his Chelsea debut tomorrow evening against Fulham. But I don’t personally foresee any problems with that.

We’ve had a short break, and it’s been ideal really as the end of the transfer window drew in. It’s been a good time for Graham Potter to gather his new players together and start the gelling process in training and get his instructions across.

I’m a bit more optimistic now going into the second half of the season, purely because our starting line up has been pretty much fully transformed from the first half of the season. With Enzo Fernandez arriving alongside the shiny new attacking talents, I have a slight belief we can still make the Champions League spots this season, but it’s going to have to be one heck of a push.

This push starts on Friday against Fulham. Because if we aren’t winning games like this one, then we may as well quit with the UCL push right now.

The irony of course though, is that Fulham are actually three places ahead of us in the league! But a Chelsea win tomorrow will see them leapfrog Fulham by one point.

Chelsea only played Fulham two games ago, losing 2-1. It was Joao Felix’s debut and he got sent off. Until that moment, I felt we were winning that game pretty comfortably.

Even still, there are no easy games in this league and it will be a tough one tomorrow night, but one I am confident of winning. Since beating us, Fulham have lost their last two league games, and Chelsea have hit better form and got better results. The pendulum is swinging in our direction, and we have a win probability of 60%.

The big questions will be who on earth starts this game? We have some players returning from injury, and of course, some new faces. It will be very interesting to see what Graham Potter goes for.

Potter has confirmed he still has some injured players in his squad such as Mateo Kovacic and Denis Zakaria, but he will have Ben Chilwell, Reece James, and Raheem Sterling back in the squad. But I don’t believe any of them will start the match.

I believe we might see something like this:

Even though we are still missing players, I am confident that this team will have enough to beat Fulham. And I genuinely think we have no choice but to hand Enzo his Chelsea debut from the off tomorrow night, and I’m buzzing for it!
