Ethan Ampadu is a phenom, he continues to surpass expectations.
He may only be just 17-years-old, but he has already made his Premier League and international debut, which is testament to just how highly he is thought of in the footballing world already.
Ampadu has handed a start by Antonio Conte in the middle of the back three against AFC Bournemouth in the Carabao Cup on Wednesday night, and he wasted no time repaying his manager’s faith in him.
Here’s three ways that Ampadu impressed against the Cherries.
Unbelievable awareness
There is a quite brilliant photo of Ampadu in the build-up to Chelsea’s first goal. Though he was on the other side of the field, he can be seen calling for Cesc Fabregas to play the ball across the face of the goal and into the path of Willian. The Spaniard did so, and Chelsea took the lead.
man was telling cesc to square it from centre back lmao pic.twitter.com/0uxXTl15nc

Pass master
As shown in the below graphic, Ampadu attempted 88 passes and finished with a 98.9% pass accuracy, more than any other Chelsea player on the night. He may not even be old enough to order a pint in a pub, but he had no intention of shying away from possession!
Ethan Ampadu made more passes, had a higher pass completion and made more clearances than any other Chelsea player tonight. He touched the ball 105 times too #CHEBOU #CFC #CarabaoCup pic.twitter.com/nEoRxAggId

Getting stuck in
Nobody likes to see players getting injured, and we sincerely hope that Jermain Defoe is fine. It was, though, good to see that Ampadu wasn’t afraid of getting stuck into one of the Premier League’s all-time top goal-scorers with just 90 seconds on the clock!
