John Terry is right, and it’s not the first time he’s said this. We’ve also heard it from countless former players, Chelsea legends, fans, and pundits as well. It’s just so obvious to me and many others.
I’ve accepted it, as I said yesterday. This is just the way the club operates now. This is their plan. But what is the timescale of this plan? When do they seriously expect us to be serious title challengers? Because that is where we need to be, right?
Chelsea currently sit in 9th place in the Premier League after 9 games played. This isn’t quite as bad as it sounds because it’s so ridiculously close in the top half we could easily be speaking about Chelsea being in second place in a couple of weeks time. But at this moment in time, it’s not good enough AT ALL.
We have so far won 4, drawn 2, and lost 3 in the league. We are one defeat away from losing as many as we’ve won. That’s not good enough. It’s inconsistent. But as I said yesterday, with inexperience across the entire club right now from owners, staff, coaches, and players, we cannot expect anything else but inconsistencies, right?
John Terry said over the weekend:
“Losing to Sunderland after doing the hard work against Liverpool and Forest, I think we’re going to get that with a little bit of an inexperienced squad, with the younger group we have we’re gunna see that a bit and that’s what’s going to cost us not being title contenders at the end of it.”
I can’t see how anyone can disagree with that statement either. He’s spot on.
