As is the nature of the beast unfortunately, I’ve seen Chelsea midfielder Ruben Loftus-Cheek being written off by many fans at the start of this season when he went out on loan to Fulham.
However, I have always maintained that the England international will still become an important player for Chelsea, and those views grow stronger by the week.

Loftus-Cheek came back into the Chelsea squad after a serious Achilles injury, the type of injury that could end an older players career.
Every person can react differently to such an injury as our bodies are all different. Loftus-Cheek took a lot longer than the average person to rebuild the muscles around the injury and get back out on the pitch playing again.
This is why it was wise to loan him out this summer, he simply was not showing the confidence and flair that we have all seen from him on a regular basis in recent years, and he wouldn’t have had enough game time here to prove himself again.
I only have to think back to the last World Cup to remember just how devastating an in-form, confident, and fully firing Loftus-Cheek can be. He was England’s best player and biggest attacking threat in my opinion, and he can soon become Chelsea’s again.
The signs are there, he put in another great performance against Tottenham in the Premier League last night (below), showing signs of the dominant, strong, and confident player that we know he can be.

This has been brewing up over the course of the season, and he now finally looks close to being the player he once was.
The other element of this is he is still just 24-years old, 3-4 years off his peak potential stage as a rule, so he can get even better, and he will.
I firmly believe that he will not only re-join Chelsea’s squad at the end of this season, I believe he becomes a key player for the club, and bosses the midfield once again as he has so often in the recent past.
His physicality in the middle of the park is something that Chelsea are missing, as is his ball carrying ability, press-resistance, and a real eye to create and score goals.
He WILL be back!
