Chelsea are in a bit of a crisis right now, one that can only be described as fighting a fire in a burning building, a building that is close to crumbling.
With Frank Lampard’s reign as Chelsea boss hanging on by a thin burning thread, there is only one player who is fighting the fire to put out the flames – Mason Mount.

Ok, so maybe a few other players can also hold their heads high and have been holding the fire hose for Mount, but after another fine display against Leicester City last night, Mount’s weird over-critics must really wind their necks in.
Mount has been only one of a few players who is out on the pitch giving everything for this football club over the last run of bad form, and he’s literally been giving blood, sweat, and probably tears to stop his beloved club losing matches.
Make all the ‘Lampard’s son’ jokes you like, but the fact is Mount would be doing this for any Chelsea manager. He, like all real Chelsea fans, will always put the club first.
But it isn’t just a case of running around like a headless chicken for 90 minutes, Mount has been one of the few players looking to make things happen in an attacking sense, and he has literally been grabbing this team by the scruff of it’s neck trying in vain to lead them forward, when everyone else just wants to drop heads and hide.
He’s starting to show qualities of a future captain, real leadership qualities like John Terry and Frank Lampard had in their playing days. Something that has really been missing from this Chelsea team for many years.
So if that is the type of player you want out of this team, you’d soon regret it if he did.
