One of the biggest bits of news today is circulating today is Chelsea midfielder Ruben Loftus-Cheek reportedly having no desire to leave the club this summer, according to two reliable reports.
Ruben Loftus-Cheek was held back by a bad injury back in 2019, but before then he spent his best season yet playing at Chelsea under Maurizio Sarri. He was a regular for England and he was absolutely superb. Loftus-Cheek, the player who had been raved about as he came up through the ranks in Chelsea’s academy, was showing what he was all about and doing it on the biggest stages.
He took a while to fully regain his confidence, but in the last handful of matches we are really starting to see him become a very important player for Thomas Tuchel and living up to expectations once again.
He started this season very well and then dipped in form. But he is right back where he wants to be now and he is proving that he is and can be a real asset to Chelsea.
He brings a very unique set of attributes and there aren’t many players like him with the physicality he has. He can play in many positions and do a good job, as he has been proving this season for Tuchel and has also proven in the past. This versatility makes him for a very appealing squad rotation player and if he continues his top form, there is nothing to say that he cannot become indispensable for Chelsea and England once again.
I’m pretty sure that as well as Loftus-Cheek having a desire to stay at Chelsea, Tuchel will have a desire to keep him at Chelsea, because he clearly rates and trusts him and he is really developing him even more.
A confident Loftus-Cheek playing at his very best is unplayable in my opinion, and he will prove to be a great asset for us going forward.
