Using animals or mammals to describe Chelsea players over the past has always been a good way to do it.
Whether it’s Michael Essien as The Bison, or Marc Cucurella as a Jack Russell dog, I always think it’s a big compliment to be compared to something like that. Moises Caicedo being compared to an Octopus is a massive compliment and such a good way to describe him.
Nope, he’s not a slippery creature. But he often does play like he’s got 8 legs (arms).
Yes, I have often assumed that Octopus’ have tentacles too….
The term “tentacle” is often mistakenly used for all of an octopus’s limbs, but the correct scientific term is “arm” because they have suckers along their entire length. Tentacles, which are distinct from arms, are typically found on creatures like squid and have suckers only at their ends.
Yes folks, you get it all on SPTC. Football, Science, the lot!
But the way Caicedo wraps his legs around his opponents to nick to ball is very Octopus like. It’s almost like he has ‘Go go gadget’ legs (and now we’re doing retro TV on this site – as I say, we do it all here).
Players must check their shoulders, see that Caicedo is a good 10 yards away, but then by the time they’ve turned back to make a pass the ball is nicked off them by one of Caicedo’s extending legs!
Enzo Fernandez wished his midfield partner a happy birthday yesterday by calling him an Octopus. And I thought to myself, what a compliment, and what a perfect comparison for our best player over the last two seasons!
