There are a lot of frustrated Chelsea fans doing the rounds on social media today, but equally there are those that are more rational and are not being quite so dramatic.
There is time left, the window closes at 11pm tonight, but as it stands at the time of writing, it doesn’t look like Chelsea will be adding any new players today, and that has bought out some frustrations amongst some.

I do believe we really needed/need a midfielder, but I will give my full verdict and reaction when the window actually closes. However, until then, let’s have a look at the options and depth Chelsea will have this season if they cannot land anyone else.
To be honest they still have two great options for every position, with the only one looking arguably weak is the number 6 positions, but even still, they do have plenty of options there.
Goalkeepers – Edouard Mendy, Kepa Arrizabalaga, and Marcus Bettinelli.
Centre Backs – Reece James, Cesar Azpilicueta, Trevoh Chalobah, Andreas Christensen, Thiago Silva, Antonio Rudiger, and Ethan Ampadu – 6 options for three CBs, absolutely fine with that. Try and seal a deal for Jules Kounde to arrive in the summer or January though, for that long-term planning before Real Madrid jump on him.
Right Wing Backs – Reece James, Cesar Azpilicueta, and Callum Hudson-Odoi. Again, for me Hudson-Odoi must be playing in his preferred attacking position, so he isn’t the best option as a wing back through not fault of his own.
Left Wing Backs – Ben Chilwell and Marcos Alonso. Good options.
Centre Midfield 6s – N’Golo Kante, Jorginho, Mateo Kovacic, Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Ethan Ampadu, Andreas Christensen, Mason Mount, Ross Barkley, Trevoh Chalobah.
Now this is where I see a weakness if we do not add anyone. Loftus-Cheek is not a number 6 for me, and despite having played their on occasions for England, neither is Mount. Christensen plays their for Denmark but is a better centre back, Ampadu is still largely unproven, and Chalobah is also better as a defender. So although the options are there, they aren’t the best options.
Attacking Midfielder 10s – Mason Mount, Kai Havertz, Hakim Ziyech, Christian Pulisic, Callum Hudson-Odoi, Ross Barkley, Timo Werner. Great options.
Strikers or false 9s – Romelu Lukaku, Timo Werner, and Kai Havertz. Great options.
I do feel we could strengthen some more, but it’s certainly not a disaster if we don’t.
