Thomas Tuchel has many squad decisions to make this summer, and one major area he will be looking at is at the back.
He has a host of options already to chose from, with rumours of Chelsea potentially looking to go out and sign one or two more centre backs as well.

Add into the equation the loan players who will also feel like they’ve got a shout of making the squad next season, then he has Antonio Rudiger, Andreas Christensen, Kurt Zouma, Thiago Silva, Marc Guehi, Ethan Ampadu, and potentially even Fikayo Tomori if Milan don’t take up their option to buy.
The pecking order seems to have changed a little under Tuchel, with Zouma currently missing out. Thiago Silva got injured in the last match, and it is Andreas Christesnsen who has been called upon, potentially with one last push to save his Chelsea future.
Both him and Rudiger have contracts running out next summer and as it stands, there are no signs of anything being renewed. But these are just two of the many decisions that Tuchel will need to make.
Christensen has looked good in his two games he has deputised for Silva for so far, and his performance against Sheffield United at the back was particularly dominant.
Many of us had written him off (including myself). But if he keeps playing well like Sunday then there is no reason that he wont get more games and Tuchel may actually want to keep him in the squad.
The question then is, who goes and who stays? Decisions that I am glad I don’t have to make!
