Antonio Rudiger has gone from being a player that pretty much every Chelsea fan would have been more than happy to sell, to one of our most important players in the space of just 13 matches.
I can tell you now that if there has been anyone over the last few seasons who has not criticised Rudiger and said they wanted him sold, then they are very few and far between. In fact, I’d confidently say that every Chelsea fan would have not fought against selling the German international in the last 3 or 4 seasons.

It annoys me when I see ‘I told you so’ posts online after a player, who has rightfully been criticised in the past by fans who are always balanced and have a right to vent, then puts in the form of his life.
And that is literally what I am seeing from Rudiger right now, the form of his life.
Last night against Atletico Madrid he was absolutely everything that this squad has been crying out for for years, a leader, a beast, and an absolute machine of a player.
He got under the skin of the Atletico players and not only did he do that, he was also one of the best players on the pitch.
I’ve never seen so much praise for Rudiger after last night, and it was fully deserved.
I hope he continues to prove his doubters (which includes me) wrong, and keep putting in these colossal performances and continues to be the real leader he is currently being.
Clearly things went on under Frank Lampard and he lost the dressing room, whatever you want to call it. People have emotions, people get upset, it is entirely natural and it is irrelevant now who said what and who did what, simply because the players have all put this firmly behind them and are moving forward as one.
I’ve given every player a clean slate, as has Tuchel, as have most fans. We all want the same thing, and that is to win matches.
Rudiger has now become an indispensable player for Tuchel on current form, and to be honest if he continues to play like he did last night and be the missing leader we have craved for until the end of the season, then yes I simply cannot see anything else than Chelsea begging him to sign a new deal, and it would be deserved.
What a turnaround from him, fair play.
I agree with you in fact he is a beast he played with all his life he reminds of JT
I agree, I’m the biggest critic of Rudiger but last night he played well. None of the 2 yard square passes, no constantly back to the goal keeper, he was bright, enthusiastic and pushing play forward, let’s just wait and see if the old ‘i don’t want the ball’ player… Read more »
