I can hold my hands up being one of those fans who criticised Kepa Arrizabalaga and was vocal in this after the League Cup final incident when he refused to be subbed off for Willy Caballero, but this was hugely unprofessional from him.
However, I never abused the guy, and this is when people cross the line. Kepa has admitted his mistakes of this incident and offered his apologies to all involved via his words on the Players Tribune today.
He was younger, and he made a big mistake, this incident changed his fortunes at Chelsea and as a player in world football, it made him famous for all the wrong reasons.
But, to get back to where he is right now, being one of the happiest players on the pitch after Chelsea won the Champions League final even after hardly featuring for Chelsea at all in the season, just gives you an example of the kind of person he is and what he feels about this football club.
He feels part of the club, part of the team, and he was ecstatic to just be on the bench that day and be part of the team.
He has never moaned once about not playing, he has never sulked, and he has always done a job when called upon and for that, it takes a great mentality.
He admitted he lost his confidence at Chelsea after that incident and making some mistakes, but the way he has reacted since than has been admirable and deserves all of our respect.
We are all just human beings, not machines, and we should all, even myself, try and remember that sometimes.
