I always used to really enjoy using Twitter, and I still do mostly, due to the good people I follow and interact with.
However, if it wasn’t my job to write about the team I love and adore, I really don’t think I would be on there anymore, it’s turned into a vile cesspit full of people who have no idea how to be kind and respectful.

We are constantly talking about mental health these days which is good raising awareness, but when I see incidents like today happen it really makes me wonder whether we are making any difference at all to certain ‘individuals’ on social media.
If you didn’t see it, Chelsea academy graduate Trevoh Chalobah quote tweeted Declan Rice’s tweet saying ‘big player’ after his performance for West Ham last night.
To the naked eye you might think hang on a minute, a Chelsea player complimenting a West Ham player after a win, that’s not on. However, a few seconds of intelligent research if you did not already have this knowledge, shows that Chalobah and Rice actually grew up together as childhood friends in the Chelsea academy, and Chalobah was in fact simply complimenting a friend for having a good game, it’s not deep at all.
I was shocked to see many replies disrespecting Chalobah and abusing him from Chelsea ‘fans’. Although these clowns cannot be called fans, because quite simply, they are not. They are idiots.
Most replies from them were saying that they wanted Chalobah to go on loan now, just a couple of weeks after we all celebrated with him for his goal against Crystal Palace on the opening day of the season and all complimented him for his amazing pre-season form. How fickle can people be?
Chalobah clearly saw all the backlash and later deleted the tweet. Once again, idiots on Twitter force a player to delete a tweet due to their disrespect and abuse.
All ‘because he complimented a direct rival’. So footballers are not allowed to have friends at other clubs and publicly be pleased for them? These guys grew up together, they are CLOSE FRIENDS. Get a damn grip.
Most of the accounts who abused Chalobah are the same guys out there twerking for Joao Felix every week, or talking about how good other clubs players are, etc etc… But that’s OK? Because they aren’t West Ham players? Right. It’s totally fine to compliment other players as fans as well by the way, we are simply appreciating the game and the players… Again, it’s NOT DEEP.
What about Ben Chilwell hanging out with Deli Alli the other week? That didn’t get mentioned, and he is a direct rival? Perhaps, just maybe, there is something more to your freakish agendas and maybe you all just absolutely hate Declan Rice? Which again, is just plain weird.
Maybe it’s because you love Jorginho so much? Which by the way, Chalobah’s post had NOTHING to do with Jorginho. I also love Jorginho, I think he’s one of the best in the world at doing what he does, but I can also appreciate the qualities of Rice. But again, Chalobah’s post has NOTHING to do with that. Chalobah was not saying ‘I want us to sign Rice and sell Jorginho’ for damns sake. You’re literally inventing stuff in your weird heads now.
So instead of acting like utter vile fools, why not take a moment to realise why Chalobah actually posted that and what effect your dumb comments could have on a young player….
Just want to say well done and thank you for being vocal in condemning this toxic Twitter culture. We must continue to work together to call out this kind of behaviour.
