They love a Chelsea reject, don’t they?
Listen, I’ve got a lot of love for Conor Gallagher. I love how tenacious and physical he is, and his mentality and work rate has always been top. I’ll always appreciate what he did for us.
He was a decent Chelsea player, he wore the captains armband, always gave it his all, left it all out on the pitch, and I enjoyed watching him fight for the badge and I’ll always appreciate his effort for our club.
But he’s not a Chelsea legend. He’s far from a top former Chelsea player. Technically, he’s always been a little bit off and not quite good enough. I mean, he is moving because he wants more starts, so what does that tell you?
Will he be a decent addition to most squads? Absolutely he will. But he’s a very good squad player, but that’s all he’s ever been for me. I was fine with selling him, just as I would have been fine with keeping him. He’s great to have around, but he’s never been a standout player.
This is why I don’t really care where he goes to play his football. Would I prefer it not to be at Spurs? Yes. But do I really hold enough emotional attachment to him to really give half a s**t where he goes next? Nope, not really. Will I wish him well there? Nope, of course not. I don’t want any Tottenham player to do well, frankly. I’d love him to flop.
But I’m not some emotional wreck about Conor Gallagher joining our rivals. If it was a player who was like a top ten or even top twenty all time Chelsea player then maybe I’d care a bit. But honestly, I have bigger fish to fry, bigger things to care about around our club right now.
Also, if he is willing to just go and join Spurs without a thoughts, doesn’t that say a bit about him? If he doesn’t care, why should we?
So, bad luck Conor, rather you than me. Have a very Spursy rest of your career. But that’s the only thoughts I’ll shed on it now. I don’t care.
