Why player power will always win over the manager after Lampard sacking

Chelsea sacked Frank Lampard today as I am sure you are all fully aware of by now.

It looks like his successor Thomas Tuchel is close to being announced as well.

You can read my in-depth manager profile on Tuchel here, if you feel ready!

When hearing about the various situations and issues surrounding why Lampard at Chelsea has not worked out, one thing that angers me and sticks in my mind is the player unrest once again, proving that player power wins at Stamford Bridge, and this isn’t for the first time.

Various players have grown unhappy with Lampard, whether it is his training methods, tactics, or just the plain fact that he is not picking them; it is very evident that some of the players have taken an issue with the Chelsea legend and some of them have simply not been performing to the high standard they can do, they have not been playing for Lampard.

When you see the academy lads against Luton Town on Sunday, the difference is clear – they are putting in every ounce of effort they have to win the game for Lampard. but unfortunately for him, others have downed tools.

This has lead to his sacking, and the players who caused the unrest are still at the club once again. As I said, this has happened with Jose Mourinho, Antonio Conte, Maurizio Sarri, and now Lampard.

It is quite frankly a disgrace, but also something that is unfortunately never going to change. The club can just rid of a manager, it is much easier than ridding of 5 or 6 players. This is why the players will always win and if it ever gets to this stage, the manager is doomed.
