The agent of reported Chelsea target Jean Michael Seri has revealed that the €40M release clause in his OGC Nice contract has an expiry date.
Seri could be the answer to our midfield problems. Perhaps only Cesc Fabregas can rival the Ivorian’s productivity in possession, while he also possesses many of the more reserved qualities that have landed N’Golo Kante on the map.
He’s a far more accomplished player that Tiemoue Bakayoko and Danny Drinkwater. Neither player has proven themselves to be a worthy addition to our squad thus far, which is why it wouldn’t surprise us if we did look to the transfer market in search of a new midfielder.
Could Seri be that man? Well, Le10Sport believe that Chelsea are very much interested in him, but we ought to act fast if our interest is genuine.
Sport Witness have ran an exclusive with Seri’s agent, during which he reveals that his client’s €40M release clause will expire on July 15th:
“Every year, there is a €40m clause that is valid until July 15th. Before then, they just have to offer the amount and there’s no need to have negotiations with Nice.”
Would you pay that amount to sign Seri, Blues?
He’s exactly what we need. Fabregas gets slightly less effective every season, and Serri would be the perfect replacement. He would also add more defensive steel than either Fabregas or Bakayoko. That said, I’d prefer we went for Marco Veratti instead.
