Danny Drinkwater: Chelsea closing in on agreement with Leicester, confident deal will be struck

Telegraph reporter Matt Law has provided an update on Chelsea’s pursuit of Leicester City midfielder Danny Drinkwater.

Drinkwater hasn’t featured for the Foxes this season, but was influential in their title-winning success in the 2015/16 campaign. His partnership with Chelsea’s N’Golo Kante was influential in Leicester’s success, it it looks as though the pair could be about to be reunited at Stamford Bridge.

As per Matt Law, Chelsea are closing in on an agreement to sign Drinkwater. He reports that there is now confidence in the Chelsea camp that a deal will be struck with Leicester to sign the England international by the end of the day.

Matt Law does note, however, that the Premier League champions will need to increase their most recently tabled proposal if they want to have any hope of signing him today. The countdown is on to the deadline, Chelsea look to be closing in on another signing.
