Chelsea have reportedly emerged as frontrunners to sign Lyon midfielder Nabil Fekir – and Liverpool won’t challenge us for his signature.
Fekir’s move to Anfield looked to be as good as done before the World Cup. It was claimed that he was already pictured in the Liverpool shirt and had conducted interviews with the club’s TV channel.
The move fell through, though. Lyon played hard-ball at the eleventh hour and Fekir stayed put. He appeared rather keen on moving to the Premier League, which ought to give Chelsea some encouragement if our interest is genuine.
The Express report that Chelsea have emerged as frontrunners to sign Fekir. Our interest may well be linked to Real Madrid’s interest in Eden Hazard, but we see no reason why we can’t have both at the club.
The Liverpool Echo also note that Liverpool will not move for Fekir, even if Chelsea move forward with their interest. It looks as though we have a free run at the World Cup winner in the final weeks of the transfer window!
