Chelsea prepared to green-light player’s exit as part of manager-plus-right-back swap

Chelsea are reportedly prepared to sacrifice David Luiz in order to sign both Maurizio Sarri and Elseid Hysaj from Napoli this summer.

Luiz was an integral part of Antonio Conte’s defence during his debut season at Stamford Bridge. Re-signing Luiz was a bizarre and unexpected move, but it proved to be a masterstroke.

Fast forward to the 2017/18 campaign and it’s been a tale of misery and frustration for the Brazilian. He spent the majority of the season sidelined through injury, with reports suggesting that he may also have fallen out with manager Conte.

He remains a fan-favourite, but his stock behind the scenes at Cobham may well have fallen. SportItalia believe that Chelsea are prepared to allow Luiz to move to Napoli this summer if the Serie A giants allow us to take former boss Maurizio Sarri, who is still on their books, as well as right-back Elseid Hysaj.

Depending on the finances involved, it may well be shrewd business. It would give Luiz a chance to rebuild his career under the stewardship of former manager Carlo Ancelotti, too. What do you think, Blues?
