Roman Abramovich prepared to pay £52.2M for Juventus star

Chelsea remain interested in signing Juventus centre-back Leonardo Bonucci, according to Calciomercato.

Despite a disappointing performance in Saturday’s Champions League final, Bonucci is widely considered one of the best defenders on the planet. Without the ball, he is a combative, rugged defender – with it, he is stylish and classy.

His excellent performances in Turin do not appear to have gone unnoticed in England. Calciomercato report that Chelsea are keen to draft in the Italy international this summer, but will face competition from Premier League counterparts Manchester City.

Calciomercato believe that Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich is winning to part with a whopping £52.2million to ensure Bonucci reunites with former boss Antonio Conte.

There didn’t appear to be any major weakness in Chelsea’s back-line throughout the 2016/17 campaign, but if the opportunity arises to sign any world-class players this summer, we should certainly not turn it down. Bonucci is firmly cemented in that category.
