Athletic Bilbao goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga is reportedly on his way to London to complete his proposed move to Chelsea.
With Thibaut Courtois set to depart, Chelsea have been forced into action to find his successor in the final days of the summer transfer window.
Arrizabalaga appears to have been identified as our number one target, with the Guardian reporting that the move is now essentially a done deal.
Chelsea are believed to be set to pay £71.6M for the Spaniard, which will be a new world-record fee for a goalkeeper. It will surpass what Liverpool paid for Alisson Becker earlier in the window.
The acquisition of Arrizabalaga is a real coup. It shows that Chelsea are prepared to back Maurizio Sarri in the transfer market and not cut corners with Courtois’ replacement.
We would expect this one to get over the line before Thursday’s deadline. Stay tuned for further updates…
I really dislike this Chelsea board they only know how to make noise about players why others club are busy buying them, that’s what they do and they call conte failure.
