As mentioned in The Sun’s report, Sky Italia journalist Fabrizio Romano, who knows his stuff when he comes to Italian football, claims that Manolas is set to extend his stay in Rome. See the below tweet.

Did we need him anyway?
Whether or not our interest in signing Manolas was genuine, perhaps we’ll never know. It would seem strange that we would target him having already poached Antonio Rudiger from AS Roma during the summer.
For now, it does not look as though there is any dire need of defensive reinforcements.
