Chelsea target Kostas Manolas has picked out the best teams in the world that he believes he is capable of playing for – but we’re not one of them.
We’re reluctant to take our pursuit of Manolas seriously just yet. Speculation linking us with a move for the AS Roma centre-back has come along with suggestions that Daniele Rugani could be set to switch Juventus for Chelsea.
Manolas and Rugani are two defenders with a similar profile, who are valued around the same by their respective clubs. The former may well be a contingency plan in case our pursuit of Rugani fails.
Perhaps we have to put our arrogance aside and consider that he’s currently playing for a team that just reached the semi-finals of the Champions League. We won’t even be in the competition next term.
Manolas appears to have greater ambitions than a move to SW6. He’s quoted by the Daily Star saying:
“It’s only natural you want to play for the biggest clubs, like Barcelona, Manchester United, PSG and Bayern Munich.”
“I think I could make the difference anywhere I went, even at Barcelona, although I’ve never been close to a move to the Blaugrana.”
Perhaps someone ought to show him United’s league positions since Fergie left. We’ve won two Premier League titles since that time!
Since when is PSG one of the biggest clubs? All they have is a snooze fest league and money. 😂😂😂
