Bayern CEO opens door to defender’s exit, Chelsea previously linked

Former Chelsea target Jerome Boateng may well be on his way out of Bayern Munich this summer. Could the Blues be set to revive their interest in the German?

It’s hard to believe that Boateng is a Manchester City reject. To put it plainly, he’s one of the best defenders of his generation. We’ll talk about the likes of John Terry, Rio Ferdinand, Gerard Pique and Sergio Ramos – Boateng is not far behind being in that conversation.

That’s why it’s bizarre when we see that, as Bild report, Bayern CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has opened the door to Boateng leaving the Allianz Arena this summer if they receive an ‘important’ offer that matches their valuation of the defender.

It was reported ahead of the summer transfer window last year by the Daily Mail that Chelsea were considering making a move to sign Boateng. If he becomes available this summer, it seems unlikely that the club would pass-up an opportunity to sign him.
