Juventus ace set to disappoint Conte and stay in Italy

Alex Sandro is set to remain at Italian champions Juventus after AC Milan completed the signing of Leonardo Bonucci last week, according to the Evening Standard.

As per the Evening Standard, Juventus are unwilling to sell the Brazilian left-back to Chelsea after the Italian side allowed both Leonardo Bonucci and Dani Alves to move on from the club this summer.

The news will come as a huge blow to Chelsea manager Antonio Conte who had been chasing the 26-year-old defender for several weeks, reports the Evening Standard.

In Cesar Azpilicueta, the Chelsea boss already has cover for Marcos Alonso at left-wing back. However, with Conte preferring to deploy the energetic defender as a centre-back, Alex Sandro looks to have been the Chelsea manager’s number one choice.

Instead, the Evening Standard understands that Chelsea and Conte will consider other options which include former Blues player Ryan Bertrand who was sold to Southampton in 2015 and Monaco’s Benjamin Mendy.
