Antonio Conte is reportedly interested in signing a Barcelona player in the January transfer window, and Lionel Messi is concerned.
Chelsea recruited six first-team players in the summer, but they were primarily plugging the holes left by departures. Tiemoue Bakayoko replaced Nemanja Matic, Alvaro Morata stepped in for Diego Costa, whereas Antonio Rudiger filled the void left by the sale of Nathan Ake and the exit of captain John Terry.
Could Conte look to make further acquisitions in January? Spanish outlet Don Balon think so.
Don Balon’s report claims that Conte has asked Roman Abramovich to sign Barcelona midfielder-cum-wing-back Sergi Roberto in January. It is believed that Conte sees him as the ideal long-term successor for La Masia product Cesc Fabregas, and his signing would represent excellent value money at ‘just’ €40M (£35.2M).

Don Balon report that Messi is concerned by Chelsea’s interest in Roberto. He sees the Spaniard has an invaluable member of the side and is firmly against the Catalan giants cashing-in on him.
Only time will tell if his fears will become reality…
