PSG right-back Thomas Meunier reveals that he rejected the chance to join Chelsea in the summer, the Daily Mail reports.
The Belgian has evolved into a capable full-back since moving to the French capital from Club Brugge last year.
As per the Daily Mail, Meunier could have left the Ligue 1 giants after the signing of Dani Alves. When speaking on Belgian TV, the 26-year-old said he could have signed for the Blues on transfer deadline day but turned the offer down.
Meunier is quoted by the Daily Mail saying:
“I could have left for Chelsea on the final day of the transfer window. But I didn’t want to join them.”
Despite losing out on the signing, Antonio Conte eventually got his man in signing Davide Zappacosta for £23m.
The injury to Victor Moses has given the chance for Zappacosta to step up to the plate and he’s been solid since his involvement.
The Italian started Sunday night’s 1-0 win against Manchester United and didn’t put a foot wrong in a great performance from the team.
Despite the talent of Meunier, it’s not a bad problem that we couldn’t sign the player.
