Chelsea have given up on signing Leicester City winger Riyad Mahrez, according to beIN SPORTS reporter Ben Jacobs.
The Sun reported earlier in the day that Mahrez had left Algeria’s training camp in order to seal his move away from current employers Leicester City. The tabloid claimed that his next destination was likely to be Premier League champions Chelsea. They claimed that a £45M deal was likely to be signed and sealed on deadline day.
beIN SPORTS then got in the act, reaffirming The Sun’s report that the Blues had made a £45M bid for the 26-year-old, and that they expected the deal to be completed before the deadline.
However, the man who announced on air for beIN SPORTS, Ben Jacobs, has now back-tracked. He claims that, after previously claiming that the deal was likely to be completed tonight, Chelsea have now withdrawn from the race to sign him.
The reality is, it was probably pure guesswork after Mahrez made it clear he was on the move – and we all fell for it.
Come on ! Why don’t you guys just sign him ?
