Charly Musonda has extended his current contract at Stamford Bridge for another five years, the club confirmed on Friday evening.
The Belgian scored his first competitive goal for the club on his debut in the 5-1 thrashing against Nottingham Forest in the Carabao Cup.
Musonda has made a case to be part of manager Antonio Conte’s plans after a disappointing loan spell at Real Betis last season.
When speaking to chelseafc.com, the 21-year-old expressed his delight of putting pen to paper on a new deal.
Musonda is quoted by the club’s official website saying:
“I am very happy and very proud. I love this club so it’s a great moment for me and my family. Now I want to establish myself and progress into the team and stay here permanently.”
Will Musonda be sent out on loan in January?
Despite the fantastic news of the winger signing this extension, Musonda may still be leaving Chelsea temporarily.
Tammy Abraham signed a new contract with the Blues this summer but was sent straight out on loan to Swansea.
Despite Musonda’s social media outburst earlier this season, Conte still has faith in the player. Whether he’ll be with us till the end of the campaign remains to be seen.
