Antonio Conte provided a very unambiguous answer when quizzed as to whether he wished he had picked Gary Cahill for Tuesday night’s Champions League clash with Barcelona.
Cahill, despite being club captain, has been in and out of the side this term. The Italian opted to field a back-three consisting of Cesar Azpilicueta, Andreas Christensen and Antonio Rudiger – and they were superb, for the most part.
It was Christensen’s second-half error that allowed Andres Iniesta to square the ball to Lionel Messi in the penalty area. The Argentine was never going to miss from there.

Conte could have picked Cahill ahead of Christensen, or even David Luiz if he was deemed fit to feature, but he is standing by his decision to start the Denmark international at the heart of our back-line.
He was quizzed in his post-match press conference about the selection decision, and the amount of times he said ‘no’ will make it an uneasy watch for Cahill. Have a look at this.

Why on earth would he want to play Cahill instead of Christensen?
I dread to think how may mistakes Cahill would have made, the quicker we get shot of him the better, he’s a liability.
