Chelsea V Barcelona

Chelsea may have conceded an away goal in the 1-1 draw with Barcelona on Tuesday night.

However, three Blues players remain positive despite the late setback in which Lionel Messi scored his first goal against Chelsea in nine attempts.

Thibaut Courtois, Pedro and Marcos Alonso sent messages of hope to their followers despite Barcelona having a slim advantage going into the second leg.

The visitors were limited to chances and Courtois had little to do. However, when Barcelona did get their chance, Courtois was wrong footed by Messi’s strike in the 75th minute.

Pedro showed fantastic work ethic against his former club but couldn’t make a difference on the scoreline. Due to Barcelona dominating possession, Pedro was forced to play a more defensive role in the team.

That being said, the Spaniard did well in aiding Victor Moses when the Catalans were attacking on the right flank. Pedro knows the Nou Camp well and could be of great use in the reverse leg.

Marcos Alonso was also limited in bringing Chelsea further up the field. The left-wing-back was penned by due to Barcelona’s qualities in the final third.

However, Alonso did a stellar job defensively and believes that himself and his teammates will fight until the very end in this European tie.
