Here’s a rumour that’ll go down well among the Chelsea faithful – the Express claim that Frank Lampard is on the shortlist to replace Michael Emenalo and the club’s technical director.
Emenalo left his post on Monday afternoon after spending ten years at Stamford Bridge. For the full details on the Nigerian’s shock departure, click here.
One of Emenalo’s responsibilities as technical director was to oversee the club’s scouting network. Chelsea will undoubtedly be keen to appoint a replacement ahead of the January transfer window, as it could prove to be a pivotal period in reviving our faltering title-defence.
As per the Express, one of the people being considered for the post is Chelsea legend Frank Lampard. Although having a former Blue at the club, someone who knows us inside-out, would be great for the fans – he has no relevant experience.
It would be a romantic appointment, and it’d be great to see him back in SW6 – but there are better candidates for the role with far more experience than the former England international.
